PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (HI) Tropical Storm Ana

Date: Fri, 17 Oct 2014 14:17:00 EDT

Summary: Probable flooding from tropical storm Ana expected over the Hawaiian Islands beginning Friday afternoon, October 17, 2014.

Tropical storm Ana is expected to pass southwest of the Big
island with heavy rain beginning this afternoon. The National
Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flash flood watch for the
Big island until 6 p.m. Sunday, October 19, 2014.
Ana is expected to reach hurricane strength later today and
then weaken to a tropical storm as it passes to the southwest
of Maui, Molokai, Oahu, and Kauai bringing heavy rain.
It is too early to tell the track Ana will take as it moves
past the Hawaiian Islands. NWS has not provided information
on storm surge at this time.

All streamflow, crest-stage, reservoir, and rain gages are in
good working order. The National Weather Service, Corps of
Engineers, State and County Civil Defense agencies, and
flood-hazard cooperators have been contacted. PI WSC personnel
will respond to flooding when it is deemed safe to do so.
