Summary: Flood water continue to decline within SD - expected to be below flood stage by June 25
All gages in western SD are currently back below flood stage. One measurement on the Moreau River, near peak, occurred on Saturday. A recession measurement will take place today or tomorrow. No other flood activities are expected in western SD unless additional rainfall warrants.
The Big Sioux at Akron remains about 3 ft above flood stage but continues a steady decline. The Big Sioux is forecast to be below flood stage by Wednesday June 25. A recession measurement took place today.
The RDG at Dakota Dunes has not risen above the minimum recording level, indicating that flood waters are not of concern in the Dakota Dunes area.
Rainfall over the weekend has results in the James River at Columbia rising slightly above flood stage. This site is forecast to drop below flood stage by Wednesday, June 25 as well.
Three crews are out collecting high flow measurements. At least two crews will be out measuring again tomorrow and likely much of the week, ensuring that recession measurements are obtained.
No additional Project Alert messages will be sent unless significant additional precipitation occurs.
