Summary: Flooding on the lower Big Sioux River, Split Rock, Moreau, and Grand Rivers
Flooding continues along the lower Big Sioux and Split Rock Creek although peaks have occurred and flows are not declining. Flooding was the result of heavy rainfall over June 14-16. Inflows from the Big Sioux are expected to result in flooding on the Missouri River as well. Currently a RDG is being installed near Dakota Dunes to monitor impacts from the high inflows. A new peak of record was recorded at the Big Sioux River at Akron of approximately 106,000 cfs, a .002 recurrence interval. Two crews are out in the area verifying high flows and installing the RDG.
Flooding from a single storm event on June 18 has resulted in flooding on the South Fork of the Grand River and the Moreau River. One crew is in the area documenting high flows.
