Summary: Flooding continues in Minnesota, with the northern flooding appearing to have peaked, and southern flooding becoming more widespread.

Flooding continues in northern and southern Minnesota resulting from 3-8 inches of rain the last week. Southern Minnesota flooding has expanded to include the Minnesota River Basin where 2-6 inches of rain fell overnight near Mankato, and southeast Minnesota tributaries to the Mississippi River near Rochester. Flooding continues in the Missouri and Iowa River basins. In northern Minnesota flooding continues in the Rainy River basin along the Canadian Border, although the river has peaked for now.

Five streamgages in northern Minnesota Rainy River basin had peaks of record. We have no tally yet of gages in southern Minnesota with Peaks of record.

One gage has a damaged gas-purge system and will be repaired tomorrow.

USGS flood activities include field operations, interviews with the media and communicating with emergency agencies. Four flood crews are deployed in southern Minnesota and one in northern Minnesota. Activities include flood measurements, inspecting gages and making repairs or flagging high water marks. Communication today included NWSChat and State agencies.
