PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (PA) Flooding in Western PA

Summary: Heavy localized rainfall in the Upper Allegheny River Basin has caused major flooding.

Over 4 inches of rain has fallen in the Upper Allegheny River Basin since Tuesday morning resulting in major flooding in the Clarion River Basin. Clarion River at Ridgway experienced the highest peak recorded in the 34 years of record. Flood peaks have occurred and streams are beginning to recede.

Three crews from the Pittsburgh and New Cumberland offices are in the field today making measurements and obtaining high water marks. Two crews were deployed yesterday.
