PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (DC DE MD) Moderate flooding caused by heavy rainfall

Summary: Heavy rainfall over central/northeastern Maryland, northern Delaware, and the District of Columbia causes stream flooding.

Precipitation totaling up to 6 inches over the past 72 hours in central and northeastern Maryland, northern Delaware, and the District of Columbia has caused stream levels to rise across the area. USGS measurement of flood discharges and stream water-quality sampling is underway (four discharge crews totaling 11 personnel and six sampling crews totaling 10 personnel) across the area. Current conditions include moderate flooding on several mid-sized creeks and larger rivers (Monocacy River, Seneca Creek, Brandywine Creek). Flood peaks have occurred and stream levels are forecast to fall over the next several days. No instances of flood-related deaths or major property damage caused by stream flooding have been reported at this time.
