Summary: Near 20 inches of rainfall in Pensacola has resulted in major to moderate flooding in north Florida.
Flooding is continuing in Pensacola and other northwest Florida towns. USGS rainfall gages near Milton and Pensacola, Fl recorded over 17 and 16 inches of rainfall. Other local rain gages recorded over 20 inches for April 29-30. A discharge measurement made at Bayou Marcus Creek near Pensacola (02376100) was a period of record high measurement. This station was also damaged by the flood but was subsequently repaired yesterday afternoon by USGS flood team. An indirect measurement for the period of record peak is being planned for next week. Four staff from our Tallahassee office are continuing to make flood measurements in the Florida Panhandle today. In addition six staff from the Orlando office are making flood measurements on the Suwanee River today.
