PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (ME) Minor Flooding in Maine

Summary: Minor flooding continued in central Maine on April 17, 2014

Minor is continuing in central Maine on April 17. A late snow melt ending with a small 1-1.5" rain event on April 15-16 caused the flows to rise. Many of the sites have peaked and started into a recession. The Preliminary peak flows with RI are listed below:

No streamgages have been damaged to date.

For April 17, 2014: USGS has deployed 8 staff comprising 4 crews to make measurements.

The USGS has been in regular contact with a major cooperator, Maine Emergency Management Agency.

Apr. 16 summary: 19 discharge measurements at 13 streamflow gages were made to verify or define rating curves.
