Summary: Major flooding is occuring in the Colorado, Guadalupe, Blanco and San Marcos River Basins near Austin and San Antonio, Texas.
Rainfall amounts of more than 5.00 inches fell across areas just south of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex down to the Austin area. Several amounts of 11.00 inches were reported in northern portions of Comal County and southwestern portions of Hays County between Austin and Antonio. The Blanco and San Marcos Rivers are associated with these areas which reached major flooding early this morning.
08159000 Onion Creek at HWY 183 at Austin exceeded the peak of gaged record of 36.5 ft in 2001 and hisoric peaks of 1869 and 1921 of about 38 ft with a new peak of about 41 ft.
08171400 San Marcos at Martindale gage was overtopped during the flooding.
At least 12 USGS crews from Austin, San Antonio, Fort Worth, and Houston are making flow measurements and gage repairs. The locations for potential indirect measurements are being evaluated.
Several crews are anticipated to be deplooyed Friday into the weekend as floodwaters move dowstream.
