Summary: Widespread flooding occuring across central Indiana.
Heavy rainfall April 17-19 across Indiana has caused widespread flooding. This morning, 75 USGS streamgages in the state were at or above flood stage. Flooding has reached the National Weather Service “major” category at 6 streamgages in west-central, central, and north central-Indiana. Three USGS crews (7 people) are out across the state making streamflow measurements at streamgages to ensure that accurate data are being provided to the National Weather Service for flood forecasts and to emergency management officials and the public so that timely decisions can be made to protect life and property.
