PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (IL) Flooding in Illinois

Summary: Flooding in IL, including Chicago

Over 5 inches of rain in the last 24 hours has fallen in much IL. Significant flooding is impacting many streams, including most of the drainages in the northern third of the State. This of course includes the highly populated metro Chicago area.

Ten Technicians have been out since yesterday collecting high flow measurements and doing gage repairs. All streamgages are operating correctly and providing important information to forecasters, emergency managers, and the public during this event.

The IL precip Google Maps utility link is provided below. It shows the location of IL raingages and the rainfall totals over several time periods.
