Date: Mon, 11 Mar 2013 08:46:14 EDT

Summary: Minor to Moderate Flooding in IL

Up to 2 inches of rain fell on snow covered ground in IL on a line from St. Louis to Chicago over the weekend. This rain and snowmelt is causing localized flooding in several small drainages, especially in the Chicagoland area; and in the Fox River, Spoon River, LaMoine River watersheds.

The worst flooding is expected in western IL and the Chicago, where streams have not been this high (in some cases) in over 4 years. The forecasted crests from NWS AHPS show most streams peaking today or tomorrow at the "Moderate Flooding" level.

All gages in the affected area are operating properly. Five crews are deployed with trucks and boats to verify ratings.
