PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (FL) Moderate Flooding in northwest Florida

Summary: Minor to moderate Flooding in northwest Florida.

A winter storm system passed though the southeast this week and high amount of rainfall in south Alabama and Georgia have resulted in runoff further south in Florida causing minor to moderate Flooding at USGS stream gage stations. Northwest Florida had been experiencing drought conditions for several years. Peak discharges from this event are the highest since floods from hurricanes in 2004-2005.

Six USGS field staff have been deployed for today through Sunday to northwest Florida to make discharge measurements at 12 streamflow stations.
