Summary: A weather pattern that has brought more than a week of steady rain has caused flooding on many streams in south-central Alaska.
Heavy rain for more than a week in south central Alaska has caused flooding in the Anchorage area, Kenai Peninsula, Prince William Sound, and the Matanuska-Susitna Valley including major tributaries to the Susitna River. The National Weather Service has flood advisories and warnings in effect for much of these areas and reports 16 streamgages at or above flood stage. The Anchorage Field Office personnel have been making discharge measurements at all of the affected gages over the past several days.
