Summary: High flows measured in streams in south-central Alabama on Tuesday, September 4 associated with the remnants of Hurricane Issac.
The upper-level low associated with the remnants of Hurricane Issac produced thunderstorms that resulted in rainfall amounts of up to 6 to 10 inches in areas of south-central Alabama on Tuesday. Minor flooding occurred in low lying areas.
Three 2-person crews made discharge measurements at four streamflow gaging stations in the Choctawhatchee, Cahaba, and Lower Alabama River Basins. The minor flooding at these sites represented about a 2-year recurrence interval.
