PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (LA) Continued Flood Work

Date: Sun, 02 Sep 2012 09:30:32 EDT

Summary: LAWSC continued flood response

The LAWSC High Water Mark Team "Isaac" is continuing to recover HWM and storm surge sensors. The team reporting results to Brian McCallum daily, and he's compiling HWM inofrmation for HQ.

Yesterday (9/1/12) the LAWSC personnel made 5 flood measurements using the M9. Unfortunately, we have concerns that these M9 measurements were biased low. No adjustment will be made to existing ratings because of these measurments. However, the Tangiphoa River at Robert's existing rating was extended to rate yesterday high water.

Today, the Amite, Comite, and Tickfaw River's flood water are receeding rapidly. A team is heading toward the Bogue Chitto River near Bush, which is cresting today; and then, Tangiphoa River at Robert. At these locations, the team will make simultaneous measurements using the Price-AA and M9.
