PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (OK) Weekly drought report

Summary: Drought conditions continue throughout Oklahoma with almost half the state experiencing exceptional drought.

Hydrologic Conditions: As of August 21, the U.S. Drought Monitor shows 100 percent of the state experiencing severe drought, 90 percent experiencing extreme drought, and 48 percent experiencing exceptional drought.

Streamgages: Lowflow measurements continue to be made at streamgages with zero flows being observed at many locations.

Groundwater levels: Out of a network of 18 real-time groundwater wells, record lows have been observed at several wells during the past week.

Spcial Projects: The orifice's at two sites were lowered. Several local and state agencies have requested flow verification measurements.

Communications and outreach Numerous data inquiries have been answered regarding the ongoing drought conditions. Several WSC staff have been interviewed by the media concerning low streamflows, decreasing groundwater levels and water-quality conditions.
