PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (OK) Weekly drought report

Summary: Drought conditions continue throughout Oklahoma with almost half the state experiencing exceptional drought.

Hydrologic Conditions: As of August 21, the U.S. Drought Monitor shows 100 percent of the state experiencing severe drought, 90 percent experiencing extreme drought, and 48 percent experiencing exceptional drought.

Streamgages: Lowflow measurements continue to be made at streamgages with zero flows being observed at many locations.

Groundwater levels: Out of a network of 18 real-time groundwater wells, record lows have been observed at several wells during the past week.

Spcial Projects: The orifice's at two sites were lowered. Several local and state agencies have requested flow verification measurements.

Communications and outreach – Numerous data inquiries have been answered regarding the ongoing drought conditions. Several WSC staff have been interviewed by the media concerning low streamflows, decreasing groundwater levels and water-quality conditions.
