Research Advisors and Assistant Research Advisors serve on a rotational basis. The two smallest disciplines, Geomorphology and Sediment Transport and Surface-Water Hydrology, continue to be combined for the purpose of Research Grade Evaluation (RGE) panels. They remain, however, separate and distinct disciplines. o ECOLOGY: Interaction with living material and hydrology Richard L. Smith (RA) Boulder, CO (Continuing) Robert G. Striegl, Jr. (ARA) Boulder, CO (New) o GEOMORPHOLOGY AND SEDIMENT TRANSPORT: Erosion, transport, and deposition of particulate material Edmund D. Andrews Boulder, CO (Continuing) o GROUND-WATER HYDROLOGY: Ground-water physics, flow through the unsaturated zone, transport within the unsaturated and saturated zones, and hydrogeology Christopher E. Neuzil (RA) Reston, VA (Continuing) Richard W. Healy (ARA) Lakewood, CO (New) o GROUND-WATER CHEMISTRY: Hydrogeologic processes, chemical reactions, and distribution of organic and inorganic species Edward R. Landa (RA) Reston, VA (Continuing) David L. Parkhurst (ARA) Lakewood, CO (Continuing) o SURFACE-WATER HYDROLOGY: Surface-water physics, surface-water hydrology, snow and ice Christopher Milly (RA) Princeton, NJ (Continuing) Jonathan M. Nelson (ARA) Lakewood, CO (Continuing) o SURFACE-WATER CHEMISTRY: Organic and inorganic chemistry of surface water and environmental chemistry Eric T. Sundquist (RA) Woods Hole, MA (Continuing) George R. Aiken (ARA) Boulder, CO (Continuing) I wish to express my thanks to outgoing Research Advisors, Julio Betancourt (Ecology) and Steve Ingebritsen (Ground Water Hydrology) for their insight into research issues and service to the organization. /signed/ Mary Jo Baedecker Assistant Chief Hydrologist for Research Distribution: E This memorandum supersedes WRD Memorandum No. 97.13. **************************************** Mary Jo Baedecker 436 National Center Assistant Chief Hydrologist for Research 12201 Sunrise Valley Drive Reston, Virginia 20192 mjbaedec@usgs.gov (703-648-5858) ****************************************
