This meeting of the Task Group focused on the role of biology in the new National Water Quality Assessment (NAWQA) Program. The Task Group concluded that biological studies are vital to the success of NJAWQA and made 11 recommendations for biological studies within the surface-water projects. The group recognized that biological processes may also be significant in ground-water projects but made no specific recommendations for the design of experiments to investigate these processes. We welcome your thoughts on these minutes and on the role of biology in NAWQA.
