QUALITY OF WATER BRANCH TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM NO. 84.12 

Subject:  PROGRAMS AND PLANS--Central Laboratories Quality 
                              Assurance Report 

A quality-assurance report for the Central Laboratories--
Atlanta and Denver for the period July 1 through September 
30, 1983, is attached.  The report covers quality-assurance 
samples which were submitted daily to the laboratories 
through a program which is independent of the management of 
the Central Laboratories System.  This quality-assurance 
program examines data after it has undergone routine 
laboratory quality-control checks and has been stored in 
WATSTORE.  The report should reflect the quality of the 
analyses received by the data user. 

The distribution of this report.has been delayed in order 
to include an assessment of data comparability between 
laboratories in addition to the previously reported within-
laboratory precision and bias.  Special attention should be 
directed to the text of this report which provides the 
description of procedures, qualifications, and interpretation 
of the information presented in tabular and graphic form. 

Quality-assurance reports for the last quarter of 1983 
and the 1983 annual summary are in preparation. 
Quality-assurance reports covering previous time periods 
are on file in the Quality of Water Branch.
