QUALITY OF WATER BRANCH TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM NO. 80.08

Subject: WATER QUALITY: Technical Information -Briefing 
                        papers on aquatic biology

The Quality of Water Branch initiated in August 1974 a series 
of briefing papers to increase the awareness and 
understandlng in the Division of the various aspects of water 
quality. Enclosed is another briefing paper on aquatic 
biology entitled "Family Chironomidae (Diptera)" by Larry J. 
Tilley (WRD, Menlo Park, California). The briefing paper 
represents the first of several such papers which will 
discuss taxonomic groups of aquatic organisms.

The briefing paper should be circulated as widely as possible 
in all district and project offices.
