PROGRAMS AND PLANS New WATSTORE parameter codes In Reply Refer To: October 10, 1979 EGS-Mail Stop 412 QUALITY OF WATER BRANCH TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM NO. 79.19 Subject: PROGRAMS AND PLANS New WATSTORE parameter codes This is to inform you of two new WATSTORE parameter codes: Code Description 81903 Depth at sample location, total (feet) 81904 Stream velocity, point (feet per second) These codes were requested specifically so that point-integrated sediment data may be stored and retrieved for publication in a more informative format. Of course, they may also be used to reference sampling locations and conditions of other types of data besides sediment. Several districts are conducting special sediment studies for the Army Corps of Engineers which include measurement of velocity and collection of sediment samples at several points in the vertical. With the addition of these codes, complete description of the location of each sampling point relative to the channel bed and banks will be possible. Other available parameter codes that relate to sampling location are: Code Description 00001 or 00009 Cross-section location (feet from left or right bank) 00003 Depth of collection (feet from surface) 00004 Stream width (feet) Districts should review data stored under parameter code 00055, stream velocity, mean (feet per second), and transfer any point velocity data to the new parameter code 81904.
