These new samplers are welcome additions to the existing U.S. series of suspended-sediment samplers because they will accommodate either the standard pint bottle or a commercially available l-quart bottle. The USD-74 sampler is a modified D-49 sampler made of bronze. It weighs approximately 62 pounds and will take a l-pint or l-quart bottle. The USD-74Al sampler is a modified D-49 sampler made of aluminum. It weighs approximately 30 pounds and will take a l-pint or l-quart bottle. This sampler can be used on a handline if necessary. Both samplers are available in the trace-metal version for water-quality sampling.
