Subject: WATER QUALITY: Technical Information - Briefing 
         papers on aquatic biology

The Quality of Water Branch initiated in August, 1974, (QW 
Branch Technical Memorandum No. 75.03) a series of briefing 
papers to increase the awareness and understanding in the 
Division of the role and significance of biological quality. 
Attached is the second briefing paper entitled, "Stream 
Biology" by Keith V. Slack (WRD, Menlo Park, California). The 
briefing paper should be circulated as widely as possible in 
all districts and project offices.

The Quality of Water Branch encourages comments on the 
effectiveness, use, and value of this series of technical 
briefing papers.
