EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES: Regulators for Stacom Manometer October 27, 1980 HYDROLOGIC INSTRUMENTATION FACILITY MEMORANDUM NO. 81.01 SUBJECT: EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES: Regulators for Stacom Manometer Recent tests conducted at the Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility indicate that the present supplier of the Stacom Manometer has changed the high pressure nitrogen regulator to a type that is not suitable for field use with the manometer. This regulator does not have: 1) The low pressure regulation accuracy required. 2) The low pressure (0-60 psi) outlet gauge as required. 3) A pressure relief valve. In an effort to prevent a similar problem arising in the future, the following nunimum specifications will be required of all regulators in- tended for use with the Stacom Manometer: 1) Inlet fitting: CGA 580. 2) Inlet gauge: 0 to 4000 psi. 3) Outlet gauge: 0 to 60 psi. 4) Delivery range: (adjustable) 0 to 50 psi. 5) Self-reseating safety relief shall be required. Relief shall operate between 50 to 100 psi. 6) Outlet connection: B 9/16-18, right-hand thread. 7) Single stage diaphragm regulator. 8) Accuracy: Plus or minus 5% maximum delivery, i.e., 5 percent of 50 psi at any setting. Field users who purchase regulators from sources other than the HIF Field Service and Supply Section for use on the Stacom Manometer, are urged to insist on these minimum specifications. Each field location should also be checked for regulators that do not meet these requirements inasmuch as there is a safety as well as an operational problem involved. The HIF will change all units in stock to reflect the above stated speci- fications. Field users may arrange for replacement of unsuitable regulators before January 1, 1981 through the Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility, Repair and Calibration Section, FTS 494-2107. C.
