OFFICE OF SURFACE WATER TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM NO. 93.19
Subject: Articles for Summaries of Floods in the United States
RESPONSE DUE BY SEPTEMBER 30, 1993
Water Resources Division Memorandum No. 91.27, dated March 25,
1991, asked the Districts to prepare articles summarizing the
outstanding floods that occurred during the 1990 calandar year.
About 30 articles were received for that year. A few articles
came in for 1991.
Recently funds have come available, and the Kansas District has
agreed to prepare a Water-Supply Paper summarizing flooding in the
United States during 1990-91. Paul Jordan, the project leader, is
assembling the articles and comparing their coverage with reports
of flooding from the National Weather Service and the Corps of
Engineers. Paul will be contacting the Districts to determine
which floods, not already covered by articles, should be included
in the publication. He will arrange with the Districts to have
the needed articles prepared.
Flood reporting is a continuing activity, and a Water-Supply Paper
for 1992-93 floods will be prepared. Flood articles for 1992
should be sent to the Office of Surface Water by September 30,
1993. Articles for 1993 will be due a year later.
