SURFACE WATER BRANCH TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM NO. 81.01

Subject: PUBLICATIONS--Report "Review and Evaluation of Urban Flood
Flow Frequency Procedures" by Walter Rawls,
                        Virginia Stricker, and Ken Wilson

The enclosed report provides a concise and comprehensive review of techniques
for estimating flood peaks and/or hydrographs for ungaged urban areas.
This publication was prepared through a cooperative effort of the Science
and Education Administration (SEA), Department of Agriculture (DOA), and
the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The USGS effort was part of a nationwide
urban flood-frequency study in cooperation with the Federal Highway
Administration (FHWA). All WRD employees engaged in estimating flood
peaks should be familiar with the numerous techniques that have been
proposed. Please call this report to their attention.

A few additional copies of the report may be obtained from the Surface
Water Branch or the Regional Office in Atlanta, Georgia. When our supply
is depleted, additional copies may be requested from SEA at the address
listed on the back of the cover.
