SUBJECT:  PROGRAMS AND PLANS - Updating Streamflow/Basin
          Characteristics File


This memorandum is a reminder to update streamflow characteristics
such as the T-year floods in the Streamflow/Basin Characteristics
File.  A propitious time to update this file is when log Pearson
type III frequency curves are developed in flood-frequency and/or
low flow studies.

This file is a valuable asset both to the field and national
headquarters.  Multiple regression analyses are much more
conveniently made by use of this file in combination with a
variety of STATPAC programs.

Instructions for updating the file will be found in Water
Resources Division Memorandum No. 74.127.
