Subject: Release of Office of Information Technical Memorandums Addressing Publishing Policies

The Office of Information is releasing a number of Technical Memorandums
addressing publishing policy for internal Water Resources Discipline (WRD)
use, including detailed background information and implementation
guidance. The memorandums are available online at the Publishing Web site
(/usgs/publishing/Memos/). The details available in
these memorandums are critical for proper use of this guidance. If you
have questions about these memorandums, please e-mail the "GS Pubs Policy"
group.

The purpose of these technical memorandums is to document WRD publishing
policy not addressed at the bureau level. In the next several years, the
U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Geographic Information Officer (GIO), Karen
Siderelis, may elect to address specific USGS publishing policy. However,
these technical memorandums addressing WRD publishing policy will be used
for the foreseeable future as some years may pass until bureau policy can
be written addressing detailed issues.

The subjects of these first seven memorandums are:

Datum Documentation Requirement
Conversion Factors Table
Executive Summaries
Description of Rock Units
Creation of Water Table Maps
Director's Approval of Journal Articles
Administrative Reports
