Subject: Re: AIS Configurement Management Board Closure

The purpose of this memorandum is to update you on a decision made to
bring the AIS Configurement Management Board to an end. The mission of the
AIS CMB is "to provide the leadership necessary to guide the life cycle of
WRD administrative software. The CMB shall be responsible to review,
monitor and provide stewardship for the strategic planning, development,
maintenance and migration of WRD administrative software."

The Charter of the AIS CMB called for election of new members in January
2001. However, the maturity of AIS, the decision by the Bureau to move to
a common financial management system, and the on-going development of
FFS/BASIS have resulted in a lesser need to continue guiding the direction
of AIS software. Therefore, it seems that election of new members would
not be of great benefit at this time. Discussions among Isabelle Halley,
Steve Blanchard and I resulted in a decision to bring an end to the
Configurement Management Board, with the understanding that I will be
available to make contact with the administrative community should the
need arise.

Thank you for your support and contributions to this effort.

Sincerely,

Janet Thomas
Chair, AIS CMB
