WATER RESOURCES DISCIPLINE INFORMATIONAL MEMORANDUM NO. 2001.04
Subject: PERSONNEL--Announcement of Current Research Advisors and
Assistant Research Advisors for Research
The purpose of this memorandum is to announce the current Research
Advisors
(RAs) and Assistant Research Advisors (ARAs) for the research disciplines.
Research Advisors and Assistant Research Advisors serve on a rotational
basis. The two smallest disciplines, Geomorphology and Sediment Transport
and Surface-Water Hydrology, are combined for the purpose of Research
Grade
Evaluation (RGE) panels. They remain, however, separate and distinct
disciplines.
Research Advisors serve (1) as technical representatives for the
disciplines
and (2) as advisors to the National Research Program management team on
matters of technical direction, personnel, and budgets.
o ECOLOGY: Interaction with living material and hydrology
Robert G. Striegl (RA) Lakewood,
CO
Frank J. Triska (ARA) Menlo Park,
CA
o GEOMORPHOLOGY AND SEDIMENT TRANSPORT: Erosion, transport
and deposition of particulate material
Edmund D. Andrews (RA) Boulder,
CO
o GROUND-WATER HYDROLOGY: Ground-water physics, flow
through the unsaturated zone, transport within the
unsaturated and saturated zones, and hydrogeology
Ward E. Sanford (RA) Reston,
VA
Richard W. Healy (ARA) Lakewood,
CO
o GROUND-WATER CHEMISTRY: Hydrogeologic processes,
chemical
reactions, and distribution of organic and inorganic
species
David L. Parkhurst (RA) Lakewood,
CO
Thomas D. Bullen (ARA) Menlo Park,
CA
o SURFACE-WATER HYDROLOGY: Surface-water physics, surface-
water hydrology, snow and ice
Jonathan M. Nelson (RA) Lakewood,
CO
Gregory J. McCabe (ARA) Lakewood,
CO
o SURFACE-WATER CHEMISTRY: Organic and inorganic chemistry
of surface water and environmental chemistry
Eric T. Sundquist (RA) Woods Hole,
MA
George R. Aiken (ARA) Boulder,
CO
I welcome our new Advisor, Frank Triska, and I want to express my thanks
to outgoing
Advisor, Dick Smith, for his insight into research issues and service to
the organi-
zation.
