Subject:  New Position Classification Standard for Accounting and Budget Positions


The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has finally issued, for immediate 
use, the long anticipated GS-500, Job Family Standard for Professional and 
Administrative Work in the Accounting and Budget Group.  The new 
classification standard supersedes the GS-501, Financial Administration 
and Program Series, GS-510, Accounting Series, GS-511, Auditing Series, 
GS-512, Internal Revenue Agent Series and the GS-560, Budget Analysis 
Series.  A copy of the standard is attached for your information. 

OPM will post the job family classification standard on the Federal 
Classification System web pages within the next few days.  The following
