Subject:  2001 Department of the Interior Safety and Occupational Health Seminar 
  
The U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) 2001 Safety and Occupational 
Health Seminar will provide a forum for DOI staff to meet and exchange 
information on a wide variety of safety and occupational health issues.  
Special certification training courses on the National Fire Protection 
Association Life-Safety Code, Serious Accident Investigation, Road 
Construction Zone Safety, and Aviation Safety will also be offered.  
Additionally, Collateral Duty Safety Officers will be able to attend a 
24-hour Certification Course for Safety and Health, as required by 
Occupational Safety and Health Administration.   

The seminar will be held at the Doubletree Hotel Seattle Airport in 
Seattle, Washington, April 22-27, 2001.  A block of rooms has been 
set-aside at the Doubletree Hotel Seattle Airport (206-246-8600) under 
"DOI Safety Seminar."  Information on registration, certification courses, 
and technical sessions can be found on the seminar website at

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) will conduct a meeting on Monday 
morning, April 23, and the Central and Western Regional Safety Managers 
will conduct regional specific meetings Monday afternoon.  All managers, 
supervisors, and employees assigned collateral safety and environmental 
duties are highly encouraged to attend to learn about the future 
directions the U.S. Geological Survey safety, health and environmental 
programs. 

The seminar will offer vital training to employees, supervisors and 
managers, as well as the safety and occupational health community.
