New bureauwide fonts license available to all federal and contractor staff

MEMORANDUM

April 30, 2001

To: All USGS Employees

From: Donna K Scholz /signed/
          Chief, Office of Information Services

Subject: New bureauwide fonts license available to all federal and
          contractor staff

Univers Condensed and Times Adobe Type 1 typefaces have been purchased for
all U.S. Geological Survey employees and contractor staff so that anyone
in the Survey can produce documents (publications, Web sites, PowerPoint
presentations, posters, etc.) that conform to the Visual Identity (VID)
System standards. You do not have to register or pay for these fonts. The
Bureau purchased enough (12,000) licenses for all employees as part of an
ongoing effort to fully implement the VID System.

Each user should coordinate installation of fonts with his or her local
system administrator.

Installation instructions and answers to frequently asked questions are
provided at the Visual identity fonts website:
http://nttac.usgs.gov/nt_tac/apps/fonts/vid/win.html

If you need additional information or have questions, please contact the
Lotus mail group GS Help VID Fonts .

Special thanks to the Publishing Issues Group, which coordinated this
procurement as an action resulting from the USGS Publishing 2000
Conference. Technical support was provided by the Cartography and
Publishing Program and the New Technologies Technical Advisory Committee
(NT-TAC).

Examples of the fonts provided under this enterprise licensing agreement
are shown below.
