Subject:  Printing Contracts Data Collection 

The Departmental Publishing Council (DPC) is spearheading an effort to 
collect data on all printing contracts within the Department of the 
Interior (DOI).  The goal is to have this information reside on the web to 
inform DOI offices of existing contracts that could be used to fulfill 
printing needs.  Using these instruments would curtail the need to 
initiate new term contracts or execute new procurement requisitions to the 
Government Printing Office, thereby avoiding the repetitive and 
time-consuming procurement processes to get jobs printed.  Another aspect 
of this initiative is that it would promote communication among 
professionals within the DOI printing community whereas they would share 
in and benefit from the wealth of knowledge and expertise that exist.  We 
therefore ask for your earnest participation to make this effort a 
success.   

Attached is a form designed for this task in both Microsoft Word and 
fill-in PDF formats.  The Word format may be transmitted electronically to 
this office at mmb@usgs.gov, or if preferred, the PDF form may be faxed to 
(703) 648-7352.  We request that we receive this information by March 16, 
2001.
