Credit Bureau Reporting and Salary Offset for Delinquent Charge Card Accounts

Subject: Credit Bureau Reporting and Salary Offset for Delinquent Charge
Card Accounts
As part of the contract between the Department of the Interior and Bank of
America, the bank is authorized to report delinquent MasterCard accounts
to the credit bureau. In addition, the Travel and Transportation Reform
Act allows collection of undisputed delinquent amounts owed to the
contractor through salary offset. The bank intends to start exercising
these rights as follows:
Credit Bureau Reporting:
Beginning January 28, 2001, all charged off accounts (accounts that are
more than 210 days past due) will be reported to the credit bureau.
Beginning April 19, 2001, all canceled accounts (accounts that are 90 or
more days past due) will be reported to the credit bureau. The bank will
continue to report these accounts each month until the debt is paid.
Clemency is being offered to all canceled cardholders who pay their
outstanding balance in full by April 2, 2001.
Salary Offset:
The bank may request salary offset for canceled accounts. Wages will be
offset beginning 60 days after the cardholdr receives notification from
Interior's Payroll Operations Division..
