Subject: Selection of Florida District Chief
We are pleased to announce the selection of Carl R. Goodwin as Chief of the
Florida District. Carl currently is the Subdistrict Chief in Miami.
Carl began his career in 1965 as a streamgager in Menlo Park, California.
After participating in the graduate school training program, he transferred
to Tampa, Florida, where he led a series of hydrodynamic modeling
investigations in Tampa Bay, Hillsborough Bay, Charlotte Harbor, and
other estuaries along the west-central Florida coast. In 1991, he
transferred from Tampa to the Pacific Northwest as District Chief for
Washington where he expanded and strengthened the program. In 1996, Carl
returned to Florida as the Subdistrict Chief of the Miami office where he
led strong program growth and developed productive partnerships in support
of ecosystem restoration objectives in south Florida. Carl holds a Ph.D. in
Coastal and Ocean Engineering and is a registered professional engineer.
Carl's technical and managerial background along with his experience in
program development will serve the Florida District well. He will assume
his new position in January. Please join us in welcoming Carl to his new
position.
