Subject:   Fiscal Year 2000 Human Resources Initiatives Proposal Awards

The purpose of this memorandum is to notify you of the final results of the
fiscal year 2000 Human Resources Initiatives (HRI) proposal process.
Employees from throughout the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) submitted a
total of 81 proposals.  A selection panel evaluated the submissions against
criteria described in our July 23, 1999, memorandum announcing the call for
proposals.  Each awardee will be receiving a separate e-mail, detailing the
level at which the project was funded.  We thank everyone who participated
in this effort and commend your interest in and support of the education,
training, and utilization of a diverse population of employees, students,
teachers, retirees, and others.
