                   Chief, Office of Ground Water

Subject: Federal CBR ground-water networks--FY 2000 allocations

The purpose of this memorandum is to provide information on fiscal year
(FY) 2000 allocations for the federal Collection of Basic Records (CBR)
ground-water networks. The amount of the transfer is shown below by
State. These figures are based on the amounts provided by Districts,
reduced by 9 percent to reflect lower DOTSC and WOTSC rates after
restructuring.

The figures shown below should be entered on the CBR request frame in
AIS as your request for FY 2000 ground-water funding. When the entries
for ground water, water quality, and surface water are complete and the
request has been transferred to headquarters, please notify Annette
Ledford in the Office of Surface Water by email (aledford). Annette is
again coordinating the allocations for all three Discipline offices.

A total of $367,000 is available for the federal CBR ground-water
program in FY 2000, a 10 percent reduction from FY 1999. Of these
funds, $80,985 is allocated to stations in support of Compacts and other
Interior agencies, $260,668 is allocated to the federal ground-water
stations network, and $25,347 is allocated to the North Carolina
District toward support of the network.

Please review the information about CBR wells in the revised federal
stations network by clicking on "Collection of Basic Records (CBR)
Program" found under "Programs" on the USGS ground-water home page
(/ogw). To help us update this table, please
send email to Linda Geiger (lgeiger) by January 31 with corrections
or to verify the correctness of the table.

Please continue to contact Linda Geiger or me with any questions or
comments on the ground-water CBR network at any time.
