Subject: USGS Library Consortium Established
USGS libraries announce the formation of the USGS Library Consortium
(USGS-LC). After a year of planning, the libraries listed below, from
across the country and from all USGS disciplines, have agreed to
participate in this initiative. As stated in the mission, the purpose of
the USGS-LC is to promote the sharing of library resources
and expertise among USGS libraries as a means for providing quality
library and information services to every USGS employee when and where it
is needed in support of the USGS mission. The consortium provides the
framework for libraries with different administrations within the USGS to
plan and implement cooperative projects to enhance library services and to
support integrated science.
The consortium members are moving forward with elections for the USGS-LC
Steering Committee, which is planned to get underway in November. If you
have any questions, or want further information, please contact one of the
members of the Consortium Structure Team: Nancy Blair (nblair@usgs.gov),
Susan Fayad (susan_fayad@usgs.gov), Susan Lowell (slowell@usgs.gov), Phil
Stoffer (pstoffer@usgs.gov).
