Subject: OPAC - Update
I will be sending "updates" regarding the OPAC system and processing as
information is revised pertaining to OPAC billing procedures, DOD ALCs,
etc.
1. Form 9-2048, OPAC Billing Request form. Recently, there was a
question from a District Office regarding the "Vendor Code" field on the
form. The "Vendor Code" is synonamous with the USGS reimbursable
"customer numbers".
2. Corp of Engineers. Valid DOD ALCs are listed in the updated
"DOD/DFAS ALC and Location List" included in the OPAC web page
{www.usgs.gov:8888/ops/finance/opac}. Included near the end of that list
is an entry for the Corps of Engineers (COE) with a notation 'not signed
yet'. The COE has still not yet signed our Trading Partnership Agreement
required by Treasury in order to establish billing authority via OPAC.
As soon as this agreement is sign, I will notify you and update the ALC
list. Until then, COE can be billed via SF 1080.
3. Automated Form 9-2048. Work has started on creating an "automated"
form 9-2048. The automated form will be in the same format as the current
form, and can be electronically forwarded. The data input on the form by
the Divisions will generate an OPAC record for updating FFS and for
transmitting the record to Treasury's OPAC system.
Thanks,
Bruce Wood
