Extension of Deadline for Employee Development Needs Assessment (EDNA) Responses (WRD Informational Memorandum No. 2000.01) - RESPONSES REQUESTED BY JANUARY 31, 2000 In Reply Refer To: ACH/Program Operations Mail Stop 441 MEMORANDUM January 11, 2000 To: All Water Resources Division Employees From: Catherine L. Hill /signed/ Associate Chief Hydrologist for Program Operations Subject: Extension of Deadline for Employee Development Needs Assessment (EDNA) Responses (WRD Informational Memorandum No. 2000.01) RESPONSES REQUESTED BY JANUARY 31, 2000 On October 20, 1999, Water Resources Division (WRD) Informational Memorandum No. 2000.01 requested that districts and other cost centers complete their entry of development needs into the National EDNA Database by December 31, 1999. Approximately 13 WRD costs centers met the deadline and an additional 8 cost centers submitted after the deadline for a total of 21. We are beginning to review the data from those cost centers. In the meantime, to have a more solid foundation from which to make national and regional training decisions, we are extending the deadline for data entry to January 31, 2000. The additional time should allow those districts and other cost centers that have not completed data input to do so. The disadvantages of not inputting the data are two-fold—one, to the district/cost center and two, to the WRD. Needs that are not known cannot be considered during the regional and national training schedule decisionmaking process, and the WRD will not be able to get a true global needs perspective from which to make decisions that capitalize on economies of scale and efficient planning. If problems or questions arise during the data input, help is available by e-mail at medaniel@usgs.gov or by phone at (303) 236-4903. Additional help can also be obtained by referring to the frequently asked questions (FAQ’s) with responses, which are located on the EDNA homepage at: http://ntc1serv.cr.usgs.gov/ntc/Policy/EDNA-HomePage.html) Questions and problems regarding the EDNA may also be addressed to Dianne Jeffries at (3202 2136-4932 x228 or djeffrie@usgs.gov. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Catherine L.
