Williams Acting Personnel Officer Subject: Thrift Savings Plan Open Season The next open season for the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) will begin on May 15, 1999, and run through July 31, 1999. During this open season, you may begin contributing to the TSP, change the amount of your TSP contributions, or reallocate your current TSP contributions among the three investment funds. Employees covered by the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) or the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) are eligible to participate in the TSP. You may invest all or any portion of your TSP contributions in any of the three TSP investment funds: (1) the Government Securities Investment (G) Fund; (2) the Common Stock Index Investment (C) Fund; and (3) the Fixed Income Index Investment (F) Fund. You are eligible to make a TSP election this open season if you were newly hired in a position covered by FERS between July 1, 1998, and December 31, 1998, or if you were rehired into a position covered by FERS or CSRS after a break in service of at least 31 days and were previously eligible to participate. All TSP changes should be made through Employee Express at 1-800-827-6254 or use the Internet address at http://www.employeeexpress.gov , accessing with your Personal Identification Number (PIN). TSP-1 forms will no longer be accepted for open season changes. If you need a new PIN, call the PIN Help Desk at (912) 757-3030. If you make an open season election after this date, it will be effective on the first day of the subsequent pay period.
