The Department recently unveiled an electronic personnel handbook on its HRM web site. The handbook is called Personnel Manager and is located at http://www.doi.gov/hrm/pmanager/. Personnel Manager has basic information on over 275 areas of personnel management, written in plain English. It includes an alphabetical index and subject area tables of content for supervisors and human resources professionals. There is a special section for employees, "An Employee's Guide to What to Do If ...," with employees' most frequently asked questions on staffing, classification, training, and employee relations. Also included is a section of downloadable personnel forms (in Informs and Adobe Acrobat format) and sample letters (in WordPerfect format). Most pages have Internet links to laws and regulatory material so you have source material available for indepth research.
