Scholz, Office of Information Services, OPS Subject: USGS 1-800 Help Desk as of April 1 As of April 1, 1999 the USGS has contracted with OAO Corportation for a 1-800 Help Desk servie for PC and MAC operating systems and applications. This 1-800 service is expected to be a critical component of the overall support structure for MS Office and Lotus Notes as USGS implements these packages as the bureau-wide office automation and collaborative computing solutions over the next several months. Effective April 1, 1999, all USGS employees can use this service by calling 1-877-471-6422. This service is available from 8AM-8PM EST, Monday through Friday. Callers will be asked to identify themselves by name, USGS division, location, and phone number. The contract has been paid for the remainder of FY 1999 with Lotus and MS Office implementation funds. The contract may be renewed next fiscal year if the service is acceptable.
