Effective today, April 1, 1999, the General Services Administration has decreased the allowance for the use of a privately owned vehicle. The mileage rate for use of a POV, as advantageous to the Government, is decreased from 32.5 cents per mile to 31 cents a mile. The rate will remain unchanged for the authorized reimbursement for (1) use of a privately owned aircraft at 88 cents per mile and (2) use of a privately owned motorcycle at 26 cents per mile. The two tier reimbursement rate for the use of a privately owned vehicle in lieu of a government furnished vehicle also remains unchanged at 23.5 cents per mile and 10.5 cents per mile.
