Subject: Replacement Object Class for Intra/Inter Division Billings

               Response Requested by Monday, March 15, 1999

Beginning Fiscal Year (FY) 1999 object classes 811A Intra-Division
Billings and 811B Inter-Division Billings were terminated for further
use in the Bureau.  The Office of Financial Management has recently
removed this object class from the Federal Financial System (FFS).

WRD cost centers have  expressed the need for the Division to maintain
one specific object class to be used when the assigning of actual costs
to respective object classes becomes administratively cumbersome (i.e.,
one work effort involving salary, overhead, travel, supplies, etc.).

In review of the FY 1999 budget object class listing
(http://www.usgs.gov/usgs-manual/im/9804atch.html) we would like to
recommend object class 253G Reimbursable Agreement-Internal/Other
Agency  be used in lieu of 811A and 811B.   Please respond via email to
Jackie Johnson (jjohnson) by Monday, March 15, 1999, if you forsee a
problem with using this object class.

Once we have agreed on an appropriate object class, we will coordinate
with the Branch of Administrative Systems to link this object class to a
management category.
