Subject: REQUEST FOR INFORMATION CONCERNING YOUR CREDIT CARD

WRD Employees:

A large number of WRD employees received a message from a vendor asking
the employee to respond in order to verify information concerning phone
numbers and whether the employees has a credit card.  Employees should
not respond.

Although we are required under Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to
provide a list of employees with credit cards to vendor when asked, USGS
has not sanctioned these vendor's request to gather further information
such as your telephone and fax number.
FOIA does not require the release of this information and that's why the
vendor is asking you to comply.
