Hill /signed/ Associate Chief Hydrologist for Program Operations Subject: Y2K Restored Annual Leave The following information applies to U. S. Geological Survey employees working on the Y2K effort who have a Y2K critical result in their performance plan (Form DI-2002). The Office of Personnel Management issued regulations on August 25, 1999, for employees who cannot use all of their use or lose leave due to Y2K responsibilities. If those employees have the Y2K critical result in their work plan, the leave may be restored without meeting the normal requirement to schedule the leave and then have it canceled in order to be eligible for restored leave. The 1999 leave restored to employees involved in Y2K work must be used by the end of the 2002 leave year. Any previously restored annual leave that an employee cannot use in 1999 due to Y2K work can be used through leave year 2002. Claims for restoration of annual leave that will be forfeited at the end of the year are not to be submitted until the leave year has ended. Any questions regarding restored annual leave should be directed to your Administrative Officer.
