Hill /signed/ Associate Chief Hydrologist for Program Operations Subject: Newsletter Request RESPONSE REQUESTED BY AUGUST 25, 1999 At the ACHO's Retreat in June, one of the Action Items requested was to select a person to send "Notes to the Field." In other words, to inform WRD, particularly the districts about current events, issues, and activities that are taking place in the Office of Program Operations. Because of Dottie Harris' excellent writing skills, she has been asked to develop, create, and produce an informal newsletter about..."What's happening in Operations?" The newsletter will be published every 4 or 5 months, or whenever is deemed necessary. Our first Newsletter is scheduled to be sent out in late September. Dottie will need everyone's help to put this information together. Suggested topics for the first Newsletter are: o HURRICANE MITCH--STATUS OF SUPPLEMENTAL, AND ANYTHING ELSE o PERSONNEL--WHAT'S ON THE HORIZON, WITH COHO, HR R&R RECOMMENDATIONS o STATUS OF AIS PROJECT MODULE--ANTICIPATED COMPLETION DATE o PLANS AND STATUS OF LEAVE ALLOCATION o STATUS OF EARLY OUT AUTHORITY o STATUS OF FTE POSSIBLE FUTURE ITEMS: o IWRB--SOME DISCUSSION OF THE FACT THAT THEY RECEIVE ONLY 10 % OF FUNDING FROM WOTSC...REST IS REIMBURSABLE o BOHRMS--DISCUSSION OF REGIONAL HR FUNCTIONS VS BOHRMS FUNCTIONS Your job is for the appropriate people to give Dottie a paragraph or so on the above topics--and anything else you think would be of interest. Dottie's job will be to modify your input for consistency, and to make sure it is complete and will be understandable to the field. I would also like everyone in Program Operations to think of items to include in future Newsletter and to send those ideas to Dottie on a routine basis. We anticipate these Newsletters being 1-2 pages in length. Please submit your input for the first issue to Dottie by August 25, 1999. It will include various topics of interest collected, compiled and published by Dottie from the Management Team under the auspices of ACH/PO. The primary objective of the Newsletter will be to "...Get the word out!" Thanks to everyone for supporting this new endeavor.
